Social Media is flooded with Messages to boycott Chinese goods. Among all the video of Mr. Sonam Wangchuk has been the most popular one.

The last couple of months have seen sequence of events that have led to culmination of negative sentiments against the Chinese Government and Chinese Goods over the time.

Among first is the Conspiracy theory whose veracity is still in question that states corona as a Biochemical weapon that has been deliberately launched to foster Chinese dominance against others. Hopefully, the truth would be unearthed in the coming times.

Second is the growing breach of Human rights against corona victims, Hongkong protesters, Uyghur Muslims, and others that has brought chinese governance in limelight. Though it has been present since the time Mao Zedong Launched the Campaign Great Leap forward Movement of China(1958) which led to estimated millions of deaths, it has been under scanner only in recent times when people have been closely following news and other Geopolitical developments out of Hobson's choice.

Third and the recent one is the Chinese troop's standoff at the LAC against our Army. While Mr. Sonam has been prudent enough to suggest every Indian boycott Chinese goods, perhaps he is being misread. He wisely appealed us to stop funding the Chinese government through exorbitant usage of Chinese Apps(TikTok, Zoom, etc), Chinese Goods & services, especially during the tough times and raise the Sentiments for Indian goods.

Two Question pops up into my mind :

First Can we ever zero out Chinese goods in this Global world?? Second Is it wise enough to popularize Indian Goods and services even when it is unable to compete against them just out of our impulsive approach. This poses a threat of losing our brand similar to Chinese goods when Industries across the globe are pondering to shift their epicenter to India.

In the race to encash negative sentiments against Chinese goods & services, Many have hurried to come up with alternatives of TikTok such as Mitron, Bolo, Indya, and Roposo, etc. While Mitron App founder believed to be an IIT Roorkee graduate who bought the Source code from Pakistan-based Coding Company Qboxus, the later claims that they can easily tap into the database of Mitron Users. Hitherto 5 million users have downloaded the app and thus face the risk of Data security. Even the Cybersecurity experts have raised their apprehension over only a single layer of Firewall i.e Sourcecode. Chinese products have regularly drawn flak over its efficiency. Be it in 2014 when Xiaomi was pulled up for data like IMEI no being sent to the Chinese data center or the testing kits lately which has not been able to appear well. It is imperative that we start competing globally complying with Stringiest Standards.

To answer whether we can zero out Chinese goods, let me put some facts:

1. 99% of Xiaomi phones (Chinese) sold in India

2. 70% of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients also known as Bulk drugs imported from China according to Bloomberg

Among others are Diodes, Photoelectric substances, etc.

Mr. Sonam has been right in warring against the Chinese Economy but it has to be done with Integrity. Let's compete and impact them. Eg. Instead of coming up with low-quality lamps that may endanger our life, we can Compete Chinese Lamps in Diwali with our Natural Diyas and gradual phasing out with the use of crackers. For others lets curb the Global supply chain with domestic Production. Let us encash the sentiments across the globe and harbor a good notion for business fraternity.
